Cowhides-Solid White,
Cream & Light Palomino

We offer on this page three types of naturally light colored, solid cowhides: white cowhides, which are technically off-white since cowhides are not stark white; creamy white cowhides which are white cowhides with just enough color to look different from white hides when comparing the two of them side by side; and lastly, we have light palomino cowhides, which are very light tan or beige colored cowhides.

Unfortunately, pictures can never do any of these light colored hides justice. It simply is practically impossible to accurately photograph a light colored cowhide. Please keep this in mind when looking at any of the pictures we have here and elsewhere on our website. Most pictures of these light hides will look quite bad, either being too dark or too light or even both in the same picture.

white, creamy white and light palomino cowhides like those that can be bought on this page are all rare in their own right. However, from time to time, we get some that truly are rare, one-of-a-kind cowhides as far as the way they look. The tanning on all our Brazilian cowhides is the same...each hide is very supple and pliable as all quality cowhides should be. The difference we are speaking of is how the cowhide actually looks.

99% of all the lighter colored cowhides listed below will have natural shading, spotting and markings on them. Although 5% orf so of these cowhides are very nice looking as are the standard quality hides that we offer below, occasionally some come in that simply are a cut above all others. The catch is that they are much more expensive than the standard quality ones that we offer here. Instead of offering these one-of-a-kind cowhides below, we have photographed them and have placed them with all of our other rare, unusual hides. You can see them by clicking HEREand then scrolling to the bottom of the page.

Don't get us wrong; any cowhide that is bought off this page will be quite nice and at least as nice as what you generally will find in retail stores. They are perfect for those who want the look and feel of a light colored cowhide but do not necessarily want or need to spend extra for the ones mentioned above. For example, unless you simply have expendable income, there really is not any need to spend more money for a hide that is going under a dining room table or draped over a banister or hung on a wall for that matter...all places where typical imperfections will not be as noticeable. Besides, some people prefer more of a natural looking cowhide anyway, with its typical imperfections and color variations. Others simply do not want to spend the extra money.

White cows in Nature are actually "off white" and not pure white. In addition, they almost always have areas of shading along the top, sides and spine of the hide along with possibly some black or brown spotting. In other words, white cows in Nature ARE NOT USUALLY uniform in color. We say this here because unless people have actually seen white cows in Nature or a white cowhide somewhere, most people just assume a white cowhide is just that, ALL WHITE. That simply is not the case. All this is quite evident when one sees a white cowhide in a store.

White hides in stores will generally cost $700-$800. This is assuming you can even find one in the first place, which, for most people, is doubtful. Here's the catch...the quality of white cowhides generally found in stores at these prices is what we sell starting at $409.

Having said all that, some hides are definitely more uniform in color with less of the natural shading and spotting. However, these more uniformly colored hides with fewer natural markings are rarely found in stores. They represent less than 2-3% of all white hides and will cost substantially more money. At the most, we only get 5-6 of these more uniformly white hides every 4-6 weeks. As a result, it is not unusual for a customer to have to wait a few weeks before we can ship. We photograph these more uniformly colored hides, all of which can be seen at the bottom of this page.

Prices on all white hides depend on overall size and how uniform the color is. Standard white cowhides with normal areas of natural shading and markings can be ordered below while the more rare, uniform ones can be ordered at the link above.

A "creamy white" cowhide can be a great alternative for a white cowhide, especially when white hides are not available. However, they are quite rare. Creamy white cowhides are white cowhides that have just enough of a creamy color pigmentation in them where one can see the color difference when they are laying next to white cowhides. However, the difference can be slight enough that a creamy white hide can be sent out as a white hide, since technically speaking, they are white cowhides.

Some will think creamy white hides are prettier than plain white hides since the darker shading at the top, sides and spine that almost all white and creamy white cowhides have, tend to blend in better on a creamy white cowhide in that the shading isn't as pronounced. We actually think this shading enhances the look of a creamy white hide in that it gives it more of a natural looking effect. However, this same shading found on white hides simply stands out more. In addition, white cowhides can look too "stark" white in certain settings.

All these reasons help make a creamy white cowhide look particularly beautiful and elegant.

Unfortunately, as with the other white and light palomino hides pictured on this page, most any picture will appear either too dark or "washed out". However, creamy white cowhides are white cowhides that have just enough pigment where the hides don't actually look white.

As with the white and light palomino hides we sell on this page, even though all of our creamy white cowhides are premium tanned, occasionally, we get creamy white hides that visually, are truly one-of-a-kind. Unfortunately, as with the white and cream colored hides above, it is all but impossible to accurately photograph these light colored palomino cowhides. This picture cannot begin to indicate how stunning lookng these light palomino hides are. What's particularly unfortunate is the fact that you can't see the beautiful sheen most of these hides have.

As with the cream cowhides above, these solid light palomino hides are quite rare, especially "show" quality ones. "Show quality" cowhides represent less than 1-3% of all cowhides. They are the most uniform in color with the fewest number of imperfections.
